THE REFORMATION IN GENEVA

                    October 31, 1517, begin of the Reformation in Europe.
                    Martin Luther exposes his 95 theses at the churchedoor of
                    the "Chateau de Wittenberg".

                    March 1536, Jean Calvin, born the 10th of July 1509
                    in Noyon, Picardie, France, publishes the first edition of
                    the "Institution of the Christian Religion".

May 21, 1536 THE GENEVA POPULATION AND THE
                    MAGISTRATES IN THE CLOISTER OF
                    ST-PIERRE, UNANIMOUSLY ADOPT THE
                    REFORMATION.

                    Geneva becomes a protestant Republic. Reformed service
                    is begin held in the Cathedral. School education is decread
                    as obligatory.

AUGUST 1536 CALVIN ARRIVES IN GENEVA WHERE
                      HE IS SUPPORTED BY GUILLAUME FAREL

1559               FOUNDATION OF THE COLLEGE AND
                      THE ACADEMY WHICH LATER BECOMES
                      THE UNIVERSITY OF GENEVA

1564               DEATH OF CALVIN.

1572               INSTITUTION OF THE "JEUNE GENEVOIS"
                      (GENEVA FAST-DAY) AS A RESULT OF
                      THE SAINT-BARTHELEMY EVENTS AND THE
                      INFLUX OF FRENCH HUGENOT REFUGEES

1685               REVOCATION OF THE "EDICT OF NANTES"
                      AND A NEW INFLUX OF FRENCH HUGENOT
                      REFUGEES.

                      The church plans the construction of new buildings.
                      The temple of the "Fusterie", inaugurated in 1715, is inspired
                      by the architecture of the Temple of Charenton.
