• Takachiho gorge hangs over the Gokase river in Miyazaki Prefecture. It is assigned as the place of scenic beauty and the natural monument in the country. The lava flow, that gushed two times about 120,000 and 90,000 years ago, flowed out to zonal by the volcanic activity in the Mt. Aso along the Gokase river. Because this lava had been rapidly cooled, it became columnar joint. This V shape gorge eroded by Gokase river is Takachiho gorge. The cliff, that goes up to as many as 80 m - 100 m in height, continues over 20 km, and calls the Gokase river gorge or Takachiho gorge.

Takachiho gorge is under the forest.	The gorge appears in trees.	A dim scene to accompany moisture feels divineness.
