Shrine Gods are Susanou, Kushiinadahime, and Yabashira Mikogami. Creation
is assumed to be in 656 by the shrine history. It has been enshrined in
this ground before than 794 in which the capital was transferred to the
Heiankyo in Kyoto. Having started praying to the shrine god, when the epidemic
has spread around in 869, is Gion Festival. It was counted by one of the
22 shrines and it was called Gion Shrine or Kanshinin at the Heian era.
The god in Gion gathered the reverence of the people's beliefs deeply widely,
not only from the Kyoto citizens but also from the whole nation. The Shinto
shrines where this god is enshrined reach 3,000 or more now.
