• Mt. Otowa, Kiyomizu Temple was opened in 778. The waterfall in Otowa is called golden water and the life prolongment water from Mr Otowa since several ten million years ago ,and given to the first on the list of ten large great water in Japan. It is the reason why the name of the temple is called "Temple of Clear Water."

• The Deva Gate is a front gate in Kiyomizu Temple. It was rebuilt at the end of 15th century, and dismantled and repaired in 2003. A stately grand gate where the feature of Muromachi Period of front 10m, 4.8m on the side, and the eave height 8.5m is shown. It is called "Red gate" painted by red.

• Saimon or West Gate is eight-pole gate rebuilt in 1631.

• Three-Storied Pagoda was told to be created in 847, and the present tower was rebuilt in 1632. It is the biggest Three-Storied Pagoda in Japan, height is 31m. Dismantled and repaired in 1987, and a richly-colored pattern in which the Momoyama style was shown with deep red paint was restored.

• The belfry was rebuilt in 1607. Threefold rails are used to harden the pillar by using the technique of six main columns to hang a heavy temple bell of 2.3 tons. Present bell was recoinaged and dedicated to the temple in 1748.

• Kyodo or Scriptures storage was rebuilt in 1633. It stores the Buddhist scriptures as the name shows. Original was a lecture hall. Dismantled and repaired in 2000.

• The main temple and the stage were constructed at the beginning of Edo period, and national treasures. The palace of the Heian era where a graceful happening camber line is shown, Japanese cypress skin roofs, and upper windows under the eaves and looks of aristocrat's residence, and it harmonizes with green of surrounding Mt. Otowa splendidly. Inside are divided into three parts with a huge round pillars in the the outer chamber and the inner temple and the private formation, and enshrines the Jizo Buddhist saint and Bishamonten Buddha with the principal image of Senju or Thousand hands goddess of mercy and front 36m or more, side of about 30m and the height of 18m. Reconstructed in 1633. "Stage" of about 190m2 and the total Japanese cypress board fence is made Catalytic and it projects to the cliff, and the pillar of a huge zelkova of 12m or more is set up and supported. Genuine "Stage" that dedicates court dance and music etc. , and the transept of both sleeves is Rac though there is a proverb of "Fly from Kiyomizu stage" (proverb). The view from the stage is superb.
