• The long title of Ginkakuji temple known as a representative of the Higashiyama or East Hill culture is Higashiyama Jisho-ji Temple. It was the mountain villa or Higashiyama Palace which was opened by the eighth general Yoshimasa Ashikaga of the Muromachi Shogunate in 1482 originally. Yoshimasa brought up various cultures based on here. After Yoshimasa died, it became the Buddhist temple of Rinzai Zen sect. Jisho-ji Temple of the long title was named commemorating Yoshimasa's posthumous Buddhist name Jisho-ji. Name of Ginkakuji temple or Silver Temple comes from against the name of Kinkakuji temple or Gold Temple of the Yoshimasa's grandfather Yoshimitsu Ashikaga construction.

• Ginkakuji temple was called a hall of goddess of mercy. The building consists of the double layer, and a first floor or "Mind Empty Palace" is a study style. Second floor "Tide Sound Palace" has the rose head window in the wood siding wall, and is a style of Tang Dynasty Buddhist Palace that installed window flame. The Chinese phoenix in gold copper on the top turns to the east, and keeps always guarding Ginkakuji temple to which the goddess of mercy Buddhist saint is enshrined.

• Togudo or East Hall is Yoshimasa's Guarding Buddha Hall. The building is one floor structure and Japanese cypress skin roof. Moreover, it is the oldest study in existence. In the south, two square wooden floor Buddhist altar rooms are set and six mats and four and half-mat rooms are in facing north.
