• Beautiful Lake Louise is 60 km from Banff and it takes one hour by car. Name of the lake had change three times in the past. At first, indigenous people called it as "Lake for the small fishes". In 1882, Tom Wilson, who was a packhorse driver of the survey party in Canada Pacific Ocean Railway, first has come there and named it "Emerald Lake" because of the beautiful lake surface color. The present name came to be called in commemoration of governor-general Canada's wife Louise Caroline Alberta, who was a daughter of Queen Victoria, visited in 1884 and has been called "Lake Louise". It is a length 2 km, 500 m in width, and the maximum water depth 90m.

• A building of four stories or more is not allowed to be built in a national park. But the historical Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is the exceptional. First accommodation has completed at the lake side in 1886 and it was two years after Princess Louise has visited there. The first house was a small log cabin. The Canada Pacific Ocean Railway built the good looking chateau type and the present Chateau Lake Louise has become after the repeated additions and betterments.

• The Weeping Wall is a big rock wall near the Columbia Ice Fields and it looks like a standing-up football stadium. The appearance of the springing water, flowing on the bedrock, seems to be tears of a face. It froze in winter though it is surprised, and there seems to be ice-climbing that climbs this perpendicular ice wall. Those pictures (1, 2, 3) show people small then this bedrock is quite big.

• Peyto Lake, which shape looks like a bear being stood up, was named commemorating Bill Peyto of the explorer who challenged the Bow path of the Icefield parkway first in 1896. As for this glacial lake, the appearance of flowing from adjacent Peyto glacier is understood well.
