Ayutthaya is a ruin north of Bangkok on the Chao Phraya River and was inscribed
as a World Heritage monument in 1991 by UNESCO. The Kingdom of Ayutthaya
continued 400 years from 1350 to 1767 and ended by attacking of Burma Army.
It was destroyed completely and gold of pagoda was unglued.
Bang Pa-Ing Palace locates 20 Km south of Ayutthaya and constructed in
1632 as a summer detached palace. King Rama IV started to reconstruct it
after the Ayutthaya falling. Most remaining buildings were constructed
by Rama V. There are different style of buildings such as Thailand, Europe
or Chinese.
Wat Yai Chai Mongkol is the oldest temple in Ayutthaya and was constructed
400 years ago by the style of Sri Lanka. It was re-constructed in the age
of Bangkok. Reclining Buddha is famous. Pronaounciation of Mongkol is "Monkon"
because "l" is pronouced as "n" in Thai.
Famous three pagodas and Kings' bone were buried in the pagodas.
