• Start of the Windsor was by the King William conquest who has conquered Britain. It is said that the King William conquest, who had started in an English throne in 1067, built the base of the Windsor castle on this ground at the end of 11th century. It was wooden at first and Henry II re-built it by the stone rampart and the tower in the 12th century. Originally, it was meant the rampart to protect from the enemy's attack, though it has been built in the place where it could go from the London tower in a day. The present palace was greatly remodeled by Charles II to the baroque style spending eight years from 1675 to rival to the cousin Louis XIV's Palace of Versailles.

• Windsor castle is the Queen Elizabeth's favorite, and it seems to be use frequently by the Queen on the weekend. When British national flag is raised, Queen Elizabeth is absent, and if stays, then the Queen flag will be raised on top of the round tower.

After getting out of the parking lot or the taxi, Windsor castle is seen just in front, climb up to the castle. Turn right and go up along with the rampart.
When climbing this slope,	entrance is in the end.	The rampart is seen down from the entrance.	Former entrance, exit now.
